Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
