Van de Ven Double Halts The Toffees' Run at New Stadium

The Tottenham defender scored on two occasions as Tottenham extended their winning streak in away games in the top division and handed the Toffees their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Merseyside club remain 14th and are half a dozen points ahead of the drop zone.

After a drab weekday performance in the European competition against Monaco, where they managed a only attempts on target, Frank chose Randal Kolo Muani in attack instead of former Toffees player Richarlison.

The break in Everton's winning streak at home will not be a massive worry for the manager, but their attacking woes will be.

Beto and the other striker - the Toffees' pair of established strikers - had netted just a single goal combined before Sunday's match.

And they were failed to contribute to that miserable tally on a wet and gloomy evening on Merseyside.

The striker's form was summed up when he chose to bicycle-kick a clear chance from close range, even with having space and opportunity to reposition for a more conventional shot that would have challenged the keeper.
